Introduction

Carpentry is a program taught at University of the Fraser Valley, Canada. Intake: Fall, Spring. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time (1 year) options.

UFV’s Carpentry certificate prepares you to enter the trade. The program covers full overview construction carpentry work, including building frames for foundations, installing floor beams, laying sub-flooring, erecting walls, stairs, and roofs, and applying finishing touches such as installing doors, trim, molding, and hardware.

The program includes practice in UFV’s well-equipped shop. Students practise tasks patterned after real-life situations under the guidance of experienced carpentry instructors, moving from learning basics to specialized carpentry skills. UFV’s Carpentry program exceeds provincial standards of Entry Level Trades Training programs taught throughout B.C.

After you successfully complete the program, UFV says you are prepared for employment opportunities in the construction industry and carpentry-related businesses such as building equipment, supply sales, shipping and delivery, building maintenance, renovations, and modular housing construction. The program also offers advanced placement in the UFV Carpentry Apprenticeship program for Red Seal certification.
