Introduction

Diaspora Studies is a program taught at University of the Fraser Valley, Canada. Intake: Fall, Spring. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time (1 year) options.

The University of the Fraser Valley’s Diaspora Studies certificate is a 21-credit program focused on the migration and resettlement of people across national borders. Students examine how historical, political, and social forces shape migration, and they develop insights into the logistics, debates, policies, and legal perspectives that arise from global movements of people, ideas, and resources.

The other includes an internship or service learning experience that is designed to enrich and complement academic studies. The certificate can be combined with a Bachelor of Arts and a major in Sociology, Global Development Studies, Geography, Anthropology, Peace and Conflict Studies, Criminal Justice, or Child and Youth Care.
