Diploma in Animal Health Technology

Animal Health Technology is a Diploma program taught at Vanier College, Canada. Intake: Fall, Spring. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time (2 years) options.

Animal Health Technology at Vanier College is a career program that prepares students to care for and work with animals in clinical and laboratory environments. Students develop knowledge and skills across medical and veterinary disciplines, including nursing, surgery, diagnostic imaging, animal husbandry, pharmacology, nutrition, and more. They apply these skills to domesticated, laboratory, exotic, and farm animals.

The program has a length of 3 years and includes hands-on work with live animals in the department’s on-site clinic. Students perform radiographs, collect and analyze samples, and prepare patients for surgery. Graduates leave prepared to pass the Veterinary Technician National Exam (VTNE). Full-time students can also participate in the Work-Study program with paid summer internships.

The minimum requirements for admission in Animal Health Technology at Vanier College for all applicants (Domestic or International) are:

• program specific academic requirment set by Vanier College.
• English Language OR any other language requirments as set by Vanier College as pre-requiste for admission in Animal Health Technology.

In addition to the college-wide requirements, admission to this program requires:

• Math: CST 563-404/414
• Science: ST 555 404/444 and STE 558 404, or ATS 557 406/416 and STE 558 402 (or cégep Physical Science 105-003-RE)
• A letter of intent
• A possible interview (in-person in March)
• Chemistry 504 (or equivalent) and TS/SN 406/426 (or equivalent) are also highly recommended.
• Please note that applicants’ related experience is considered in the selection process. Recommended courses may also be considered a criterion for selection.
