Diploma in Global Studies
Introduction
Global Studies is a Diploma program taught at Vanier College, Canada. Intake: Fall, Spring. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time (2 years) options.
The Global Studies profile of Vanier’s Social Science program develops students’ knowledge of relationships between societies, communities, and political systems in Canada and beyond. Students study issues such as international relations, global conflict and security, and Indigenous peoples’ displacement and resistance, along with courses in the Social Sciences.
Students develop social, cultural, and environmental consciousness and explore pathways towards global social engagement and civic responsibility. The profile is offered as a pre-university program with a length of 2 years, with an admission intake in Autumn. Vanier College also describes a possible trip abroad.
This profile equips students for university studies in any social science discipline and for studies and careers in law, journalism, education, and social work. A DCS in Social Science: Power and Resistance prepares students for further studies and careers in anthropology, economics, education, sociology, social work, geography, history, journalism, law, political science, psychology, and related university studies.
