Quantum Technology, Bachelor and Master is a Masters program taught at Aalto University, Finland. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time (5 years) options.
Quantum Technology is the major in Aalto Bachelor’s Programme in Science and Technology. Aalto University says it gives a solid foundation for becoming a quantum scientist or engineer and for solving complex challenges in quantum physics and developing quantum technologies.
The bachelor’s degree is 180 ECTS and is designed for three years. In the first year, students build a foundation in mathematics and quantum mechanics, and study programming, physics and quantum technology. In the second year, they study quantum physics and mechanics through quantum materials, quantum circuits and quantum-information processing, while continuing programming and electromagnetic fields. The third year includes quantum laboratory experiments, machine learning, industrial engineering and management, optional advanced topics, and the bachelor’s thesis and seminar.
The major combines lectures, seminars, group work, project work and lab work. After the bachelor’s degree, students have the right to continue to selected master’s programmes at Aalto University. The full programme is a 3+2 year route leading to Bachelor of Science (Technology) and Master of Science (Technology) degrees.
