Introduction

Public Policy Analysis teaches students to use economic tools to address broad societal problems. The studies extend economic analysis beyond market interactions to examine the intended and unintended consequences of policies and the role of politicians, interest groups and voters in public interest.

The specialisation covers institutional design, policy evaluation, implementation and decision-making. The methods include microeconomics, game theory, experimental economics, spatial econometrics, social choice theory and econometrics. Applied courses include healthcare economics, economics of crime, labour economics and public economics.

The specialisation is one of four academically independent specialisations in the Master’s Programme in Social Science Research. The degree provides eligibility for doctoral studies in Social Sciences and Humanities.
