Biomedical Micro- and Nanodevices, Biomedical Sciences and Engineering, Master of Science (Technology) is a Masters program taught at Tampere University, Finland. Intake: Autumn. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time (2 years) options.
Biomedical Micro- and Nanodevices is a specialisation in Tampere University’s Master of Science (Technology) programme in Biomedical Sciences and Engineering. It combines engineering with life sciences. Students study the design, fabrication, characterisation, and application of micro- and nanoscale technologies for biomedical and healthcare applications, including microsensors, microactuators, microfluidics, micro-optics, wireless power and signal transfer, and biosensors.
The programme is a two-year, full-time degree taught in English through contact teaching. It is organised into modules with optional components, common core studies, elective studies or free choice study modules, and a 30-credit master’s thesis. Teaching includes lectures, group work, presentations, laboratory practice, and a small research project. The specialisation includes cleanroom microfabrication, microscopy, modelling, simulation, testing, and characterisation of microdevices.
The specialisation is designed for students who want to work with advanced biomedical devices and systems. Tampere University says the thesis project is tailored to the student’s career plan and can prepare them for academic work, industry, or hospitals.
