Introduction

Power Electronics and Electromechanics, Computing Sciences and Electrical Engineering, Master of Science (Technology) is a Masters program taught at Tampere University, Finland. Intake: Autumn. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time (2 years) options.

The Master of Science (Technology) specialisation in Power Electronics and Electromechanics focuses on modelling, control and applications of power electronics and electrical machines. It covers technologies used in renewable energy, smart grids, variable speed drives, electric vehicles, data centres and the infrastructure behind artificial intelligence.

The programme has 120 ECTS credits. Courses are worth 90 ECTS credits and the master’s thesis is worth 30 ECTS credits. Students usually spend three semesters on courses and one semester on the thesis. Teaching is by contact teaching in English. Most courses include computer simulations or laboratory experiments.

Tampere University says the specialisation suits students who want to apply theory to sustainable energy use and raw materials. It also states that the programme can lead to design, testing, research and development, management and marketing, or doctoral study.
