Global Music, Master of Music
Introduction
Global Music, Master of Music is a Masters program taught at University of the Arts Helsinki, Finland. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time (2 years 6 months) options.
The Global Music Master of Music is a two-and-a-half-year programme that develops your own artistic identity in musical, cultural and socially engaged contexts. You work on performing, communicating, collaborating, creating, facilitating, researching and leading. The programme also supports you to exchange and merge practices and create new music through intercultural collaboration.
A central part of the studies is the global music master’s project, which has a different focus for each student and combines artistic, pedagogical and research threads. You can plan an intercultural field trip to a destination of your choice, study with local musicians, take part in the WOMEX Global Music Expo or other conferences, and join intensive global music camps and visiting-artist collaboration.
Your master’s concert is featured in the annual Global Fest at the Helsinki Music Centre. You can also participate in and lead community engagement projects that connect with different areas of society.
