M2 Physics, Engineering and Chemistry for Biology is a Masters program taught at Université Paris-Saclay, France. Intake: December. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time options.
M2 Physics, Engineering and Chemistry for Biology is a master’s degree specialization in Fundamental Physics and Applications. Students study introductory biology for non-biologists through “Fundamentals in Biology”, covering structural biology methods, genetics including mitosis and meiosis, DNA replication and DNA repair, and DNA transcription and translation. They also study cellular and molecular biology topics such as internal organization of eukaryotic cells and organelle functions, cell signaling, and eukaryotic cell death and differentiation.
The programme also includes “Cell biochips”, focused on electrical monitoring and characterization of cells. Students cover electrical monitoring methods including single-cell electrical characterization using bioimpedance and cell tissue characterization using impedance models. The course includes electromechanical characterization such as electrorotation and dielectrophoresis-based cell trapping and sorting, plus concepts of electroporation and nanoporation. Practical work is part of the teaching, including lab sessions such as dielectrophoresis on a chip and bioimpedance measurement of tissue.
