Master's in Soziale Arbeit

Soziale Arbeit is a Masters program taught at Evangelische Fachhochschule Darmstadt, Germany. Intake: Fall, Spring. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time (1–2 years) options.

Soziale Arbeit (M.A.) is a three-semester master’s program designed as a generalist course. Evangelische Fachhochschule Darmstadt says it deepens understanding of Social Work as a critically self-reflective profession and discipline, focused on combating social exclusion and enabling participation. The program addresses exclusion and participation, with a political mandate and work on how social work can contribute to discrimination and exclusion.

Evangelische Fachhochschule Darmstadt organizes the curriculum into modules across three semesters: studies in ethics/theology, social work science, and research in social work, plus participation-oriented approaches in selected fields. In the second semester, Masterarbeit includes a colloquium, and the Masterarbeit continues in the third semester. It is offered full-time, and it is also possible to study part-time for 5 semesters.

The master’s program is for Berufspraktiker:innen and Bachelor graduates in Social Work or related fields who want to critically reflect and strengthen their political stance. It also qualifies for a scientific career, and Evangelische Fachhochschule Darmstadt says the degree provides access to a promotion. The acquired competencies are also described as useful for roles in leading functions or key functions in organizational development.

The minimum requirements for admission in Soziale Arbeit at Evangelische Fachhochschule Darmstadt for all applicants (Domestic or International) are:

• program specific academic requirment set by Evangelische Fachhochschule Darmstadt.
• English Language OR any other language requirments as set by Evangelische Fachhochschule Darmstadt as pre-requiste for admission in Soziale Arbeit.

• Successful completion of a Bachelor’s program in Social Work or a related program with 210 Credit-Punkte.
• Grade point average of at least 2,5.
• 210 ECTS required; if 180 ECTS can be completed, the study period extends to 4 semesters.
