Maschinenbau – Product Engineering and Context
Introduction
Maschinenbau – Product Engineering and Context is a Bachelor program taught at Technische Hochschule Köln, Germany. Intake: Fall, Spring. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time (4 years) options.
Maschinenbau – Product Engineering and Context (Bachelor) at Technische Hochschule Köln trains students to develop mechatronic systems at the interface of Maschinenbau, Robotik, and Informatik. The course connects technical work with sustainability and the socio-economic effects of innovations. It also includes interdisziplinäre projects where students understand technical connections across the needed breadth and depth.
Teaching is organized as project work rather than classic lectures: in the first semesters there are no classical Vorlesungen. Students work in teams from the first day on realistic project tasks. Teaching staff act as coaches who support technical questions and encourage continuous reflection. Students develop and test ideas in laboratories, workshops, and the MakerSpace prototype workshop, and they can use the Gateway Start-up Center for project or founding concepts.
