Introduction

Bachelor of Arts (Journalism) is a Bachelor program taught at University of Galway, Ireland. Intake: September. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time (4 years) options.

The BA (Journalism) at University of Galway trains students to report, write, edit, and produce news content for print, digital, audio, and video. Students also study media power, ethics, and the role of media in society, supported by critical media theory. The course includes an Arts subject alongside journalism.

On campus delivery runs over four years. Students begin with fundamentals in Year 1, including “This is the News,” “Introduction to Media and Communication,” “History of Media,” and “Audio Fundamentals.” In Year 3, students can choose a journalism-focused work placement, study abroad, or combine both. In the final year, students complete newsroom simulations and projects such as “Final Project (long-form feature, doc, or investigation).”
