Introduction

Bachelor of Software Engineering Honours is a Bachelor program taught at Universiti Industri Selangor, Malaysia. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time (3 ½ Years) options.

The Bachelor of Software Engineering (Hons) at Universiti Industri Selangor prepares students for careers in software development. It covers the full process from system specification through post-deployment management, with a focus on user requirements and software system development.

Students study software design, development, testing, and maintenance, along with areas such as security, socio-economic and cultural considerations, personal development, responsibility, and work ethics. Learning includes practical labs, industry-based projects, real-world case studies, and a final-year capstone project to design, develop, and deploy a comprehensive software solution.

Admission Requirements

The minimum requirements for admission in Bachelor of Software Engineering Honours at Universiti Industri Selangor for all applicants (Domestic or International) are:

program specific academic requirment set by Universiti Industri Selangor.
English Language OR any other language requirments as set by Universiti Industri Selangor as pre-requiste for admission in Bachelor of Software Engineering Honours.

i. pass in Matriculation or Foundation studies with a minimum CGPA of 2.00; OR

ii. A pass in STPM with a minimum grade of C (CGPA 2.00) in any TWO (2) subjects or any equivalent qualification; OR

iii. A pass in STAM with a minimum grade of Jayyid in any TWO (2) subjects; OR

AND a credit in:

a. Additional Mathematics at SPM level or its equivalent; OR

b. Mathematics and any one of the Science, Technology or Engineering subjects at SPM level or its equivalent.

Notes:

Candidates for category (b) need to take a Reinforcement Mathematics with appropriate topics in the discipline of Computer Science, Data Science or Software Engineering at the beginning of the study.
Students are required to pass the reinforcement Mathematics as a prerequisite before being allowed to take related core courses. The candidate can sit for any subjects that did not indicate Mathematics as a prerequisite.
Reinforcement Mathematics can contribute to the overall graduating credit.
Students from Matriculation / Foundation or its equivalent can be exempted from taking Reinforcement Mathematics, provided that the Mathematics offered at that program level is equivalent / more than the Additional Mathematics offered at an SPM level.

iv. A pass in STPM (Science Stream) or its equivalent with a minimum grade of C (CGPA 2.00) in Mathematics subject and ONE (1) Science / ICT subject; OR

v. Diploma in Computing (Level 4, MQF) or its equivalent with a minimum CGPA of 2.50; OR

vi. Any Diploma in Science and Technology (Level 4, MQF) with a minimum CGPA of 2.75; OR

vii. Diploma Kemahiran Malaysia (DKM) / Diploma Vokasional Malaysia (DVM) in Computing fields with a minimum CGPA of 2.50 subject to HEP Senate / Academic Board’s approval; OR

viii. Diploma Lanjutan Kemahiran Malaysia (DLKM) in Computing fields with a minimum CGPA of 2.50 subject to HEP Senate / Academic Board’s approval.

Notes:

Candidates for categories (iv) until (v) with CGPA below 2.75 but more than 2.00 may be admitted subject to a thorough internal evaluation process.

Achieve a minimum score of 5.0 in the IELTS or equivalent.

If a student does not meet this requirement, the HEP must offer English proficiency courses to ensure that the student’s proficiency is sufficient to meet the needs of the programme.
