Introduction
Master of Medical Physics Coursework is a Masters program taught at Universiti Malaya, Malaya, Malaysia. Intake: Twice a year in months of October and March. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time (One calendar year (3 semesters), beginning September/October) options.
The Master of Medical Physics (MMedPhys) by Coursework at Universiti Malaya provides postgraduate training in clinical applications of physics in medicine and biology, with a focus on ionizing electromagnetic radiation. Students study planning, quality control, and safety considerations for medical imaging, nuclear medicine imaging, and radiotherapy. Core subjects include Applied Radiation Physics and Dosimetry, Radiobiology and Radiation Protection, Medical Imaging and Nuclear Medicine, and Radiotherapy Physics.
The programme runs for one calendar year (3 semesters), beginning September/October. Instruction and assessment use English during lectures, tutorials, practical sessions, and examinations. Students complete a Medical Physics Research Project across the programme, and choose 2 elective courses from Introduction to Practicum in Medical Imaging, Introduction to Practicum in Nuclear Medicine, Introduction to Practicum in Radiotherapy, and Artificial Intelligence and Data Analysis in Medical Physics. Clinical postings are listed as “T”.
Graduates are trained to take professional positions in education and research, and service-orientated positions in hospitals, government agencies, laboratories, the medical industry, and the nuclear technology industry.
