Doctor of Philosophy Ph D

Doctor of Philosophy Ph D is a PhD program taught at Universiti Sains Malaysia, Malaysia. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time (Full-time: Minimum 24 months / Maximum 60 months; Part-time:) options.

The Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) by research enables graduates to continue their studies at a higher level by conducting research in a particular field related to education. The programme is offered on a full-time or part-time basis. Research areas include Science & Mathematics Education, Curriculum & Instruction, Educational Psychology, Psychometric & Counseling, Professional Educational, Leaderships & Policy Studie, Multimedia Education & IT, Social & Philosophy of Education, Language Education & Literacy, and Social Studies Education.

Students complete a research programme leading to a thesis, with fees listed for thesis evaluation. The programme has minimum and maximum duration ranges for full-time and part-time study. Applicants choose full-time or part-time entry and submit admission materials that include degree qualifications and English-language results (for international applicants), unless an exemption applies.

The minimum requirements for admission in Doctor of Philosophy Ph D at Universiti Sains Malaysia for all applicants (Domestic or International) are:

• program specific academic requirment set by Universiti Sains Malaysia.
• English Language OR any other language requirments as set by Universiti Sains Malaysia as pre-requiste for admission in Doctor of Philosophy Ph D.

• A Master degree in related field (minimum CGPA 3.00/4.00); or
• A Master degree in related field (research mode)
• Working experience in education field, but this can be exempted if:
  • Min. CGPA 3.00/4; or
  • Obtain sponsorship; or
  • Official request by employer

• A minimum score of 40 for TOEFL (Internet-based); or
• A minimum of Band 7.5 for TOEFL Essentials (Online); or
• A minimum of Band 5 for IELTS; or
• A minimum score of 47 for PTE; or
• A minimum score of 154 for Cambridge English (CAE/CPE); or
• A minimum of Band 107 for CIEP Level (ELS); or
• A minimum of Band 3.5 for MUET

Exemption is given to candidate if: English is the candidate’s mother tongue or National Language; or Candidate graduated from an Institution of Higher Learning in which the medium of instruction at Bachelor and/or Master degree level is English (statement of proof required). Candidates are required to provide any of the above English result upon application. Incomplete application will be rejected.

• A minimum score of 80 in Internet- Based TOEFL ;or
• A minimum of Band 6.0 in IELTS;or
• A minimum score of 169 in Cambridge English: Advance (CAE), Cambridge English: Advance (CAE) / Proficiency (CPE) / Preliminary (PET) / First (FCE) / Linguaskill Online;or
• A minimum of Band 109 for CIEP Level (ELS);or
• A minimum score of 59 in Pearson Test of English (PTE);or
• A minimum of Band 4 in Malaysian University English Test (MUET)

Exemption is given to candidate if: English is the candidate’s mother tongue or National Language; or Candidate graduated from an Institution of Higher Learning in which the medium of instruction at Bachelor and/or Master degree level is English (statement of proof required). Candidates are required to provide any of the above English result upon application. Incomplete application will be rejected.
