MSC Polymer Technology

MSC Polymer Technology is a Masters program taught at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, Malaysia. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time (6 max semesters | 3 min semesters) options.

The MSc Polymer Technology (Master of Science in Polymer Technology) at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia develops a broad understanding of polymer science and technology, with emphasis on the properties of polymers for industrial use. The programme covers the science and technology of plastics, rubbers and composites, including nanotechnology and biomaterials. Core study areas include polymer synthesis, polymer processing, polymer additive, blend and rheology, polymer physics and properties, polymer characterization, and a project dissertation. Optional study areas include surface and foam technology and rubber and latex technology.

Students follow a mixed mode programme structure with mainstream study across a maximum of 6 semesters and a minimum of 3 semesters. The curriculum includes courses such as Polymer Synthesis, Polymer Characterization, Polymer Physics & Properties, Polymer Processing, Polymer Additive, blend and Rheology, and Elective options for Rubber & Latex Technology or Surface and Foam Technology. Research Methodology runs before the Dissertation in the final semester.

The minimum requirements for admission in MSC Polymer Technology at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia for all applicants (Domestic or International) are:

• program specific academic requirment set by Universiti Teknologi Malaysia.
• English Language OR any other language requirments as set by Universiti Teknologi Malaysia as pre-requiste for admission in MSC Polymer Technology.

Candidate must hold a Bachelor Degree in chemistry, physics, biology, technology or engineering with CGPA of at least 3.0/4.0 or equivalent from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia or any other Institutions of Higher Learning recognized by the Senate. In the case where CGPA is less than 3.0, a minimum of 1 year working experience is needed.

Candidate with other Bachelor of Science Degree from Institutions of Higher Learning recognized by the Senate with CGPA of 3.0/4.0 must have at least 3 years of minimum working experience in the relevant field and must pass 1 prerequisite course that will be determined by the Faculty. The prerequisite course must be registered as HW*.

*HW is a registration status of a course which is stipulated by the faculty and is subjected to normal assessment.
