Through the Software Engineering major in the Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) you develop cutting-edge skills for your future engineering career.

Professional software engineers are responsible for constructing, deploying and maintaining high-quality software in a systematic, timely and disciplined manner. Software engineers must be technically proficient and work effectively in teams and with multiple stakeholders.

You learn to design, develop, test and maintain software. To prepare you for a career as a professional engineer you also develop your communication and teamwork skills.

All applicants need to meet AUT’s minimum entry requirements qualification equivalent to New Zealand year 13 or University Entrance, including:

• NCEA: At least 14 level 3 credits in each of Calculus and Physics
• CIE: A level Mathematics and a minimum of AS in Physics OR A level in Physics and a minimum of AS in Mathematics
• IB: A grade of 4 or better in Mathematics and Physics

Minimum IELTS (Academic) score of 6.0 overall with all bands 5.5 or higher; or equivalent; TOEFL iBT score of 80; Certificate in English for Academic Study (CertEAS) with B/B+ grade; GIE with B grade; CAE minimum overall score of 169; PTE minimum overall score of 50.
