NZ Certificate in Floristry is a program taught at Open Polytechnic, New Zealand. Intake: Fall, Spring. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time (3 blocks of 20 weeks) options.
The New Zealand Certificate in Floristry (Level 2) prepares you to gain a qualification for entry into training and a career pathway in the floristry industry. The online programme develops skills to prepare simple floristry items to customer specifications and maintain quality, and to carry out routine storage, care, and display of floristry stock and merchandise.
You also build communication skills for floristry team members and customers to provide appropriate customer service, and learn to maintain personal safety in a floristry workroom environment. Delivery is fully online: you work through course materials online at a pace that suits you between the course start and end dates, with a course facilitator, a Student Mentor, and Library and Learning Centre support. There are no scheduled online classes, though some courses may include in-person components.
A practicum is required: a 40-hour practicum for the FLO203 Introduction to Retail Floristry course. You must also have access to a floristry workplace for FLO203 that is approved by Open Polytechnic and has an NZPF endorsed verifier.
