Bachelor of Architectural Studies is a Bachelor program taught at University of Auckland, New Zealand. Intake: Semester One (March). The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time (Full-time: 3 years) options.
The Bachelor of Architectural Studies (BAS) is a three-year, studio-based undergraduate programme that introduces the fundamental aspects of architecture. Students develop design skills and creative practice through studio courses, real-world case studies, and future-based speculation projects. The programme covers drawing and making, history and theory of architecture, sustainable design, materiality, construction principles, media for spatial practices, environmental and social justice, and project management.
Learning is organised across first year, second year, and beyond studio-focused design work. Students also study required core courses, including People, Place and Design Studio; Environmental and Social Justice; Media for Spatial Practices; and workshops with access to software used in the industry and fully-equipped workshops. Most students need to take one General Education course.
The BAS is the first step to becoming a registered architect. To become a professional architect, students require the Master of Architecture (Professional) or one of the associated combined masters programmes.
