Introduction

Bachelor of Health Sciences is a Bachelor program taught at University of Auckland, New Zealand. Intake: Semester One; Semester Two. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time (Full-time: 3 years) options.

The Bachelor of Health Sciences (BHSc) at the University of Auckland is an undergraduate, non-clinical programme that builds understanding of what shapes the health of populations. You study health trends and health systems, and you explore social, cultural, and behavioural dimensions of health and illness. You choose between two health majors: Community Health, or Health Systems and Data Analytics, and you can also select Nutrition as a second major.

The BHSc requires passing courses totalling 360 points, with most courses worth 15 points. Stage I includes a mix of core and elective courses based on whether you choose a single or double major. Stage II and Stage III include courses core to both the programme and your chosen major(s), plus electives or General Education; most students take one General Education course. There are work placements with a health employer in the final year of study.

You can take a single major, a double major, or a conjoint degree. Conjoint options include combining the BHSc with Arts, Biomedical Science, Commerce, Global Studies, Law, or Science. The programme also provides a pathway to apply into Year 2 undergraduate clinical programmes in Medicine, Medical Imaging, Optometry, and Pharmacy.
