Mission:
The Electrical Engineering (EE) graduate programme is rigorous and designed to impart specialised professional and research-oriented training. It is geared towards solving complex issues of 21st Century pertaining to LIFE (Biomedical Devices and Point-of-Care Healthcare), DATA (AI Hardware and Theoretical Foundations), and SUSTAINABILITY (Systems View of the Water-Energy-Food Nexus) with design thinking in curricula to produce not only successful professionals but also thought leaders. Students will be taught to identify, formulate and solve complex engineering problems and assess the impact of their area of specialization on engineering solutions in a global, economic, environmental, and societal context.
The programme is becoming internationally recognised for its research environment, international collaborations, and world-class faculty with training from leading international universities around the world. The Department of Electrical Engineering is one of the largest departments at SBASSE with 22 PhD faculty members, and numerous labs with dedicated staff members. EE faculty and students publish frequently in top journals and conferences with 215+ research publications during 2017-19 (27.5 % of entire LUMS publication). Further, faculty members at EE won research funding of over PKR 215 million during 2017-19 to support cutting-edge research being conducted at LUMS.
