Diploma in Microbiology

Diploma in Microbiology is a Diploma program taught at Open University of Sri Lanka, Sri Lanka. Intake: January. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time (01 Year) options.

The Diploma in Microbiology at The Open University of Sri Lanka is designed for professionals in relevant private and government sectors, as well as learners who want to gain or upgrade knowledge and skills in Microbiology to become professionals in a microbiology-related field. It also supports those seeking background knowledge for quality and technical roles across Production, Quality, Research and development, Validation, Engineering, and other technical disciplines.

Study is delivered through a distance mode blended online programme with limited attendance for formal face-to-face activities. The programme includes two theory-based course units, a practical course unit with field visits to the industry, and a research project (mini project). Learning includes case studies, hands-on laboratory sessions, small group sessions, laboratory practicals, field visits to observe advanced microbiology techniques, and a research project that develops critical thinking and analytical skills.

The minimum requirements for admission in Diploma in Microbiology at Open University of Sri Lanka for all applicants (Domestic or International) are:

• program specific academic requirment set by Open University of Sri Lanka.
• English Language OR any other language requirments as set by Open University of Sri Lanka as pre-requiste for admission in Diploma in Microbiology.

• Three (03) passes at G.C.E. (A/L) in Biology stream ( including Agricultural Science ) or Bio systems Technology stream / Obtained the Advance Certificate in Science (Biology) offered by OUSL / pass in Foundation course of OUSL
• A Credit / ‘B’ pass in English language at the G.C.E (O/L) examination
• Work experience in Microbiology would be an added advantage to follow the course.
• NVQ Level 4 in a relevant field and 30 credits of the Advance Certificate in Science, or
• Any other qualification accepted by the senate of The Open University of Sri Lanka.
