Diploma in Tourism Operations

Diploma in Tourism Operations is a Diploma program taught at Open University of Sri Lanka, Sri Lanka. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time (1 Years) options.

The Diploma in Tourism Operations at the Open University of Sri Lanka is a one-year diploma designed to introduce the multi disciplinary nature of the tourism industry and its links with various sub sectors. In the first semester, students study 4 core courses that are compulsory for all students.

In the second semester, students select a special stream in either Hotel Operations or Travel Operations and cover 4 courses. A practical component is included, and the programme is worth 30 credits. It is intended for school leavers, employment seekers, and those already employed in the Tourism, Travel and Hotel Industry.

The minimum requirements for admission in Diploma in Tourism Operations at Open University of Sri Lanka for all applicants (Domestic or International) are:

• program specific academic requirment set by Open University of Sri Lanka.
• English Language OR any other language requirments as set by Open University of Sri Lanka as pre-requiste for admission in Diploma in Tourism Operations.

• Three passes in any stream at the General Certificate of Education (Advanced Level) Examination, Sri Lanka, or
• Six passes at the General Certificate of Education (Ordinary Level) Examination, Sri Lanka and five years of certified work experience in the relevant field, or
• Successful completion of any SLQF Level 2 programme with minimum 30 (thirty) credits offered by a Higher Educational Institution acceptable by the Senate, or
• Successful completion of National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) Level 4 in Tourism and Hospitality field, or
• An equivalent or higher qualification acceptable to the Senate.
