Bachelor of Arts Honors in Library and Information Studies is a February 20, (Issuing of Applications); April 25, (Closing Date for Applications) Bachelor program taught at Open University of Sri Lanka, Sri Lanka. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time (04 Years) options.

The Open University of Sri Lanka offers the Bachelor of Arts Honors in Library and Information Studies (BA Hons (LIS)) through the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. The programme is focused on managing knowledge resources for access. It covers acquiring information resources, organizing them using methods and existing technology, analyzing resource contents, embedding metadata into bibliographic formats, providing access using technology-based platforms, and preserving materials for future use.

The course aims to develop managerial and administrative competencies to establish, maintain, and run libraries. It also provides technical knowledge and training on information systems, access systems, related software, and emerging technologies. Students build research skills for service development and upgrade professional competencies, while also working toward professional ethics and conduct in the library and information studies field. Delivery is online and physical, and the programme duration depends on entry level.

The minimum requirements for admission in Bachelor of Arts Honors in Library and Information Studies at Open University of Sri Lanka for all applicants (Domestic or International) are:

• program specific academic requirment set by Open University of Sri Lanka.
• English Language OR any other language requirments as set by Open University of Sri Lanka as pre-requiste for admission in Bachelor of Arts Honors in Library and Information Studies.

Level 3 – entry requirements: A/L 03 passes in main subjects in any subject stream.

Level 05 – entry requirements: Candidates must have Diploma (60 credits) Library and Information Science from a recognized Institution or an equivalent or Higher qualification acceptable to the Senate of the Open University.
