Human Geography - Master of Science programme
Introduction
Human Geography - Master of Science programme is a Masters program taught at LUND University, Lund, Sweden. Intake: Autumn. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time (2 years) options.
The Master’s Programme in Human Geography at Lund University is a two-year international programme that explores how cultural, economic, social and political processes shape people’s lives and the places they inhabit, from a geographical perspective. You gain an in-depth understanding of how societies evolve and change in relation to place, environment and global processes, with analytical focus on sustainability, inequality, urbanisation and climate change. The programme supports advanced studies in geographic theory, research methodology and Geographical Information Systems (GIS).
Teaching combines lectures, seminars, field exercises and project work based on current research. You complete study visits, fieldwork, lab exercises and research projects, culminating in your Master’s thesis. In the first year, you study human geography theory, philosophy of science and research methods, including GIS and field-based methodologies. In the second year, you tailor your studies through elective courses, an internship, or study abroad, and then complete an independent Master’s thesis.
