Kindergarten-Unterstufe is a Bachelor program taught at PHTG - Pädagogische Hochschule Thurgau, Switzerland. Intake: Fall, Spring. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time (4 years) options.
The Kindergarten–Lower Primary program trains teachers for kindergarten and the lower primary level. Students support children with transitions from the family to kindergarten and from kindergarten to the next school stage. Training includes creating learning environments where children explore and work on varied topics together with their class. The program focuses on play-based learning, individual guidance, social learning, and teaching across all school subjects, including reading, writing, and arithmetic.
All study variants lead to a Bachelor degree according to the Bologna guidelines and include 180 ECTS points. Graduates receive a nationally recognized teaching qualification for kindergarten and the lower primary level, qualifying them to teach in both public and private schools. Students work as part of the whole school team, take responsibility for school culture and togetherness with teachers from other levels, and maintain a professional, reflective dialogue with other subject professionals. They also cooperate with parents and other specialists to support children.
