The Bachelor of Science in Business Administration Major in Accounting at American University of Sharjah builds a business core and a professional major focused on accounting, economics, finance, information systems and business analytics, management, or marketing. Students complete a 45-credit hour core curriculum covering fundamentals such as financial accounting, managerial accounting, business law, microeconomics, macroeconomics, writing for business, financial management, and management information systems, plus business ethics, business policy and strategy, marketing, quantitative business analysis, and operations management.

The degree includes an internship requirement through BUS 397 Business Internship (or BUS 497 Business Practicum) as part of graduation requirements. The program also includes general education requirements, an innovation and entrepreneurship requirement (IEN 301 Innovation and Entrepreneurship Mindset), and free electives. On graduation, students are positioned for roles that include auditor, management accountant, financial accountant, tax accountant, budget analyst, public accountant, forensic accountant, fraud examiner, and work in the government sector.

Admission to the BSBA degree program follows the university’s undergraduate admission requirements. Due to the quantitative emphasis of the business program, new students are required to take the business school mathematics placement examination, in addition to the English language placement test.
