Master of Arts in Media Studies and Practice (MAMSP)

Master of Arts in Media Studies and Practice (MAMSP) is a Masters program taught at American University of Sharjah, UAE. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time (Within five years from the time of initial enrollment in the) options.

The Master of Arts in Media Studies and Practice (MAMSP) at American University of Sharjah is offered by the Department of Media Communication. It blends media studies, journalism, integrated marketing communication, and digital media to build critical knowledge and practical skills in media research, storytelling, creativity, and strategic communication. Students study historical, emerging, and contemporary global and regional media environments.

The curriculum offers three education tracks: the course option, the thesis option, or the professional project option. Degree requirements include a minimum of 30 credit hours with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00.

Students complete required coursework in Media Studies and Media Research Methods, then choose between a Master’s Thesis, a Professional Project, or additional elective coursework.

Electives include topics such as Advanced Media Production, Strategic Communication, Media Law and Ethics, Advanced Digital and Social Media Skills, Advanced Documentary Filmmaking, Advanced Multimedia Journalism, and Government Communication.

• English Language OR any other language requirments as set by American University of Sharjah as pre-requiste for admission in Master of Arts in Media Studies and Practice (MAMSP).

Those who meet these requirements but have not completed undergraduate-level courses in media theory and practice may be required to complete remedial courses offered through the Department of Media Communication or at an accredited institution recognized by the UAE Ministry of Education’s Higher Education Affairs Division.
