Master of Science in Biomedical Engineering

Master of Science in Biomedical Engineering is a Masters program taught at American University of Sharjah, UAE. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time options.

The Master of Science in Biomedical Engineering at American University of Sharjah is a multidisciplinary program designed to prepare students for advanced careers and/or doctoral studies related to biomedical engineering.

The curriculum includes core courses in mathematics, anatomy and physiology, followed by elective courses in biomedical engineering sub-disciplines such as healthcare management and informatics, biomedical signals and devices, biomaterials and biofluidics.

Students also choose multidisciplinary areas including healthcare operations management, planning and risk management, biomedical informatics, instrumentation, signal processing, biomaterials, drug delivery, and biomechanics.

Students can take one of two paths: a course-only option with 10 courses, or a thesis option with 7 courses and a thesis. Across options, students complete research-oriented class projects within many of the courses. The degree requires completion of a minimum of 30 credits with a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.00 out of 4.00. Students who receive an assistantship from AUS must select the thesis option.

The minimum requirements for admission in Master of Science in Biomedical Engineering at American University of Sharjah for all applicants (Domestic or International) are:

• program specific academic requirment set by American University of Sharjah.
• English Language OR any other language requirments as set by American University of Sharjah as pre-requiste for admission in Master of Science in Biomedical Engineering.

For full admission to the MSBME program, an applicant must have a four-year bachelor’s degree in engineering from an independently accredited university recognized by the UAE Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and by AUS.

• Degree requirements: complete a minimum of 30 credits with a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.00 out of 4.00.
• Degree completion limit: complete the degree requirements within five years from the time of initial enrollment in the program.
• Option requirements: students who receive an assistantship from AUS must select the thesis option.
