Bachelor Of Science With Education (Secondary)

Bachelor Of Science With Education (Secondary) is a Bachelor program taught at Nkumba University, Uganda. Intake: Fall, Spring. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time (3 Years) options.

Nkumba University’s Bachelor of Science with Education (Secondary) prepares students to become knowledgeable, skilled, and competent Science teachers for Secondary Education. The programme includes core professional course units plus two electives based on the intended area of specialisation. You study education and teaching topics together with science-related and education-technology focused units.

The course structure follows semesters and includes modules such as History of Education and Contemporary Issues, Computer Literacy, Communication Skills, Curriculum Studies, General Teaching Methods, and Research Methods and a Report. The programme also includes school practice through two School Practice modules, completed during breaks. Assessment details are shown in the module study-time breakdown provided for each course.

The minimum requirements for admission in Bachelor Of Science With Education (Secondary) at Nkumba University for all applicants (Domestic or International) are:

• program specific academic requirment set by Nkumba University.
• English Language OR any other language requirments as set by Nkumba University as pre-requiste for admission in Bachelor Of Science With Education (Secondary).

Direct Entry Scheme

• At least 5 passes at Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) obtained at the same sitting or its equivalent;
• At least 2 principal passes at Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) obtained at the same sitting or its equivalent.

Diploma holders

• Hold a Credit or Second-Class Diploma in the relevant field from a recognized institution as determined by the University Senate.
• At least a Pass (50%) in Mature Entry Examinations.

Other

• A certificate obtained after 2 years of post UCE study;
• Any equivalent qualifications besides UCE and UACE.

Mature age Entry

• The applicant should be 25 years of age and above;
• Must have passed mature age entry examinations organized by the National Council for Higher Education.
