The Doctor of Professional Practice in Health (DPPH) at Liverpool John Moores University supports experienced health professionals to engage in research that makes an original contribution to knowledge relevant to their practice. Students study Professional Identity, theory and practice and Planning and designing your research in Stage 1, then complete independent elements through Thesis and Reflection.

LJMU delivers the taught stage through intensive teaching blocks using lectures, seminars, tutorials, and self-directed study supported by the Virtual Learning Environment (VLE). Course assessment includes oral presentations, written reports, reflection, a thesis, and a viva voce. Stages 2 and 3 are independent study supported by a supervision team, with the thesis and reflective submission examined through the viva voce.

The programme is suitable for experienced health professionals, health professionals aiming for evidence-based improvements in their organisations, and graduates developing research capabilities and reflective practice to apply research to real-world change.
