Introduction

Psychology PhD is a PhD program taught at Royal Holloway and Bedford New College, UK. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time (4 years full time) options.

Royal Holloway and Bedford New College offers a Psychology PhD in the Department of Psychology. The department describes its research community as covering cognitive and neural underpinnings of social interaction, learning, memory, and language, including applied topics such as forensic, health, and developmental psychology. Research also groups into Health and Well-Being; Language, Memory and Attention; Perception, Action and Decision Making; and Social and Affective Processes.

The programme runs for 4 years full time. Students are initially registered on an MPhil programme, and before the second year of studies they have an upgrade meeting; if successful, they become registered on the PhD Psychology programme. To complete the PhD, students submit a thesis and pass a viva examination with one internal and one external examiner. The department provides one-on-one mentoring, regular training events, student-led seminars, and journal clubs, supported by research facilities including fMRI, EEG, TMS, tDCS, VR, and eye-tracking.

The programme includes an application stage that requires a research proposal and advises applicants to contact and secure a supervisor before submitting an application.
