Introduction

BA Global Liberal Arts is a Bachelor program taught at School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London, UK. Intake: September. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time (3 or 4 years) options.

SOAS’s BA Global Liberal Arts teaches you how to approach academic topics across disciplinary boundaries in the humanities, social sciences, and arts. SOAS’s BA Global Liberal Arts programme is housed in the School of History, Religions and Philosophies. Each year uses modules from four tracks: ‘Skills and Methods’, ‘Global’, ‘Regional’, and ‘Language’ so you can take modules across SOAS.

The BA Global Liberal Arts structure is based on interdisciplinarity, combining social sciences and humanities and using language study to support cross-cultural understanding and engagement with your regional focus. The skills track is fixed. Other parts let you prioritise humanities or social sciences, while ensuring both are represented.

You can study a language or opt out of the language and select modules from the literature and arts track, with corresponding choices for the global and regional tracks.

Students can apply for an optional year abroad in their second year, subject to eligibility, availability, and consideration of academic merit and a personal statement.
