Introduction

BA Korean is a Bachelor program taught at School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London, UK. Intake: September. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time options.

SOAS’s BA Korean provides training in written and spoken Korean, with study that covers classical and modern Korean culture. The programme includes work across pre-modern Korean literature and history, alongside contemporary Korean cinema and TV. SOAS says the BA Korean is suitable for absolute beginners and students with some knowledge of Korean, and that students spend a study stage in South Korea to continue language proficiency.

The programme uses full-time, on-campus attendance and lasts 4 years. Students take core and guided modules as part of a structure that begins with language study supported by introductory modules on history and culture and academic writing skills. SOAS says students then build on language study with further modules on language and history/culture, followed by intensive language training in South Korea, and an independent study project supported by history and culture modules.
