HND Environmental Management at Scotland's Rural College (SRUC) develops understanding of different land uses and their impacts on environmental management and sustainable resource. The programme builds upon the HNC, which forms the first year of the HND programme, and it aims to raise awareness of environmental concerns while teaching skills and knowledge connected to sustainable development and land management. Students gain knowledge of global climate systems, resource economics, freshwater environments, Environmental Management Systems, monitoring and analytical methods for environmental science, planning and development control, biology, and biodiversity conservation. SRUC delivers the programme through face to face teaching, site visits, workshops, self-guided study, seminars, visiting speakers, and residential field trips. Assessment includes practical work, essays, reports, online tests, posters, presentations, podcasts, wiki development, and exams.
