Virtual Production MA

Virtual Production MA is a Masters program taught at Southampton Solent University, UK. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time (1 year full-time; 2 years part-time) options.

The Southampton Solent University MA Virtual Production immerses students in both the artistic and technical sides of virtual production. Students study modules including Virtual Production Pipelines, Virtual Cinematography, Professional Practice, and a Master’s Project Proposal and Development, alongside an individually executed Master’s Project. The course emphasises hands-on work that builds practical virtual production techniques and research-based academic skills.

Delivery is structured across a year full-time or two years part-time. Teaching includes industry-style projects, creative exploration, and the planning and execution of a substantial master’s project or dissertation. Students also gain access to Solent’s virtual production stage from day one, plus opportunities to use tools such as an XR green screen studio and Vicon mocap and body scanner. Applicants present a portfolio at interview.
