Introduction

LLB Hons is a Bachelor program taught at Southampton Solent University, UK. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time (3 years) options.

Southampton Solent University’s LLB (Hons) Law Degree covers foundation subjects required to become a solicitor or barrister. Students study core modules including Legal System and Legal Method, Tort Law and Dispute Resolution, and Contract Law and Practice. The course content is tailored to the requirements of professional bodies and prepares students for the Solicitors Qualifying Examination (SQE) and the Bar Exam.

The LLB includes professional practice at its core. Students can use the University’s modern moot courtroom for weekly mooting and inter-university competitions. The University also delivers modules in partnership with the College of Legal Practice, with final-year modules that give credit toward the degree qualification and preparation for SQE1. An optional placement year allows students to apply learning from first and second years in a workplace.

The course is designed for students aiming to pursue careers as a solicitor or barrister, and for those seeking roles in other legal and business professional environments. Southampton Solent University states that the degree also supports progression into legal roles such as legal executives, company secretaries, licensed conveyancers, and paralegal work, as well as opportunities in areas including local and central government and the police service.
