English, BA (Hons)
Introduction
English, BA (Hons) is a Bachelor program taught at University of Cambridge, Cambridge, UK. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time options.
University of Cambridge’s English, BA (Hons) gives a foundation in history of English literature, from the medieval period right up to the present day. Students study different types of writing, including prose, fiction, drama and poetry, with opportunities to specialise and develop individual interests. Cambridge describes options to study American and post-colonial literature alongside British literature, plus links to music and film, and to intellectual traditions including philosophy, art history and politics.
Teaching uses lectures, seminars, and small-group supervisions and classes. Cambridge explains that students usually have 6 hours of lectures or seminars and 2 to 3 hours of individual, paired or small-group supervision each week. Cambridge states that assessments take place through examinations, with it possible to replace a small number of specific examinations with coursework. In Part II, Cambridge states students write a compulsory dissertation of 6,000 to 7,500 words.
