Linguistics, BA (Hons) is a Bachelor program taught at University of Cambridge, Cambridge, UK. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time options.
Linguistics, BA (Hons) at the University of Cambridge is the systematic study of human language. Students use methods and knowledge from many disciplines, including philosophy, physics, engineering, and psychology. The course covers shared properties of languages and how they offer insight into the human mind, including how language meaning is studied, how speech signals are analysed, and how language acquisition is studied.
Teaching is delivered through a mix of lectures, practical sessions, and small-group supervisions. Students usually have 4 hours of lectures, 2 hours of supervisions, and one to 2 hours of practical classes each week. Assessment includes written examinations, practical exams in phonetics and computational linguistics, and a dissertation in the final year, based on individual research. From the second year, optional papers allow students to specialise.
