Crime, Policing and Society
Introduction
Crime, Policing and Society is a Bachelor program taught at University of Huddersfield, UK. Intake: Fall, Spring. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time (4 years) options.
Crime, Policing and Society focuses on how the environment shapes whether people commit crime and on what works to reduce or prevent crime. Students explore criminal justice systems and how they shape work with victims and offenders across a range of crimes, including violent crime and transnational and organised crime networks. The course also examines the context of criminality and addresses legal, theoretical, and policy frameworks that shape criminal justice outcomes.
University of Huddersfield teaches the subject through lecturers who are active researchers across crime, justice, security, and policing, alongside guest speakers such as senior police officers, crime analysts, crime scene investigators, drug outreach workers, and criminal justice staff. Many courses offer a 30-hour compulsory work experience (students should check individual courses). Graduates can work in and beyond the criminal justice system, including in roles connected to policing and offender support.
