Introduction

MA Architecture is a Masters program taught at University of Manchester, UK. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time options.

MA Architecture and Urbanism at The University of Manchester is a joint programme combining in-depth research with studio-based design. Students study how cultural, economic, and environmental forces shape contemporary cities, and they develop written, drawn, and modelled work rooted in historical urban theory. The course uses urban laboratories to investigate urban challenges through lenses such as prototype and housing.

The programme is jointly delivered by The University of Manchester and Manchester Metropolitan University, with access to facilities across both universities, including libraries, computer suites, and making and media workshops. Students complete a Design Synthesis Project in the final semester, supported by specialist workshops at both universities for model-making, fabrication, and realisation. Learning includes studio work, live projects, and investigation through urban living laboratories.

The course is designed for aspiring researchers and industry professionals. It is not professionally accredited. The programme supports preparation for professional or academic roles related to sustainable urban and architectural design, including architectural practice, academic research, urban design, policy, consultancy, and construction.
