Introduction

MSC Applied AI for Medical Imaging is a Masters program taught at University of Manchester, UK. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time (1 year full-time) options.

The MSc Applied AI for Medical Imaging at the University of Manchester teaches students how to use AI techniques with medical imaging. Students study how images are acquired across modalities including MR, CT, radiographs and PET images, and how those images support models of the human body and in silico (computer-based) imaging trials. The course also covers AI, machine learning, and imaging science for diagnostics, personalised medicine, clinical decision-making, and clinical trials.

Teaching is fully face-to-face, with a structured timetable, recommended pacing, and clear deadlines for assessments. Students complete a mix of theory and hands-on training using real-world datasets, case studies, and projects. Assessment includes essays, coding exercises, seminar and tutorial presentations, literature reviews, and online quizzes. The final semester focuses on an extended research project assessed through a written dissertation.
