Introduction

MSC Environmental Governance is a Masters program taught at University of Manchester, UK. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time (1 year) options.

MSc Environmental Governance at the University of Manchester asks students to critically consider approaches to regulating human use of the non-human world. The course explores how policy and governance shape use of the natural world, from the production and distribution of resources to their consumption. Students also complete a dissertation project on an environmental topic of their choice.

The programme is full-time and in person, with a duration of 1 year. Students take part in a week-long Metabolic Manchester field course that uses site visits and guided walks to explore the city region’s political ecology and urban resource flows with environmental organisations and activists. Learning can be tailored through optional units from Geography MSc programmes and departments including Politics, Sociology, Global Development Institute, and Planning, Property and Environmental Management.
