MA Peace is a Masters program taught at University of Manchester, UK. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time (1 year) options.
MA Peace and Conflict Studies at the University of Manchester explores how conflicts emerge, how peace is built, and how societies recover after violence. Students develop conflict-sensitive research skills and engage with ideas about how peace is defined, built, and maintained. The course draws on politics, history, anthropology, and the arts to support work on conflict management, conflict resolution, conflict transformation, peacebuilding, and statebuilding theories and practices.
Teaching is available as full-time (in person) or part-time (in person) and takes 1 year. Students put theory into practice through an international fieldtrip, where they engage with policymakers and international and regional organisations, including the UN. The programme is described by the University as supporting a fully-funded 1+3 pathway from Master’s to PhD study through the ESRC North West Social Sciences Doctoral Training Partnership (NWSSDTP).
