MSC Urban Design is a Masters program taught at University of Manchester, UK. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time (1 year) options.
The University of Manchester’s MSc Urban Design and International Planning explores the relationship between urban design and planning with an international focus. The course is accredited by the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) and places design practice alongside professional practice. Students develop applied urban design practice skills and examine how urban design and planning connect in different contexts.
Students study full-time in person over a duration of 1 year. Learning uses physical and digital resources, and students develop design software skills. The course includes an international fieldtrip and work with an external organisation to tackle real-world sustainability problems through the University Living Lab.
Manchester Urban Design LAB is part of the course experience. It supports applied practice at home and abroad through professional engagement and structured resource use. Admission uses a staged admissions process with multiple selection deadlines throughout the year.
