Introduction

MSC Clin Orthodontics is a Masters program taught at University of Manchester, UK. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time (3 years FT) options.

The University of Manchester’s MSc (Clin) Orthodontics helps students understand the scientific basis of orthodontics. Students learn about the theory behind orthodontics through small group sessions, seminars, practical skills training, online learning, and student-led enhancement sessions. The programme focuses on contemporary orthodontic treatment techniques and current thinking relevant to diagnosis, treatment planning, and clinical management.

Delivery combines taught elements and research with mandatory clinical training across orthodontic/hospital settings in the north-west. Students attend clinics and provide treatment for approximately 100 carefully selected patients with a range of malocclusions under the direct supervision of consultant orthodontists. Students also receive training in research methods and biostatistics to plan and implement a research project that forms the basis of the dissertation, with guidance from experienced researchers.
