Master of Arts in History
Introduction
Master of Arts in History is a Masters program taught at American Public University System, USA. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time options.
The Master of Arts in History explores key historical events, people, and cultures through research, discussion, and analysis. Students build knowledge of historical individuals and events, distinguish schools of thought, and learn to apply persuasive arguments based on suitable evidence. The program includes concentrations in American, Ancient and Classical, European, Global, and Public History.
This is an online graduate program. Students complete core coursework in Historical Research Methods 1 and Historiography. At enrollment, they select either a capstone course or a supervised practicum as the end-of-program requirement. Some residency conditions may apply to the practicum option.
The program is designed for professional educators, historians, and enthusiasts. It also supports skill development in quality writing and communications, research and analysis, and presenting arguments. Students can petition for a thesis option instead of the comprehensive exam if they meet the petition timing and include faculty signatures.
