Actuarial Science (Bachelor’s) is a B.S. undergraduate program that applies accounting, economics, and mathematics to measure and manage financial risks in the insurance industry. Students study risk and asset management, financial trends and how to predict them, and gain insight into insurance and insurance companies.
The program is delivered in person and includes a departmental computer lab with statistical software. Students complete a curriculum designed to prepare them for two professional actuarial exams and to meet three Validation by Educational Experience requirements (Economics, Accounting and Finance and Mathematical Statistics). The sample curriculum includes calculus, financial accounting and management, discrete mathematics, probability, mathematical statistics, mathematical modeling, programming for business, and finance-focused coursework.
