Introduction

Aviation Science: Rotor-Wing is a Bachelor program taught at Austin Peay State University, USA. Intake: Fall, Spring. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time (4 years) options.

Aviation Science: Concentration Rotor-Wing is an undergraduate program that builds knowledge and flight skills for a Commercial Pilot Certificate, with a Rotorcraft, Helicopter, and Instrument rating. Students study FAA regulations, airmanship, rotary-wing aerodynamics, and methods of instruction, alongside Engineering Technology Core Courses that complete the degree requirements. The program also supports students who want FAA Commercial Pilot and Flight Instructor certification.

Flight skills and academics are taught in a recently renovated, aviation-oriented facility at Clarksville Regional Airport (Outlaw Field). The program is staffed by full-time faculty with experience in rotary-wing aviation training, and students receive personal attention from instructors. It holds FAA, Part 141 certificated flight school status, aiming for more consistent flight training, including Flight Instructor lab fees and Flight Training Device fees.

The bachelor’s degree supports careers in flight instruction, aerial tourism, charter operations, and other aviation applications. The program is designed to take students with no aviation experience through to successful completion, while also benefiting students with a professional attitude and a passion for aviation.
